About Us...
Amanda
and I have always loved dogs. We have raised Beagles, Bassett Hounds, and
shown Saint Bernard’s. Living in Mississippi we have learned how to keep big
breeds comfortable in the summer heat. Amanda first saw Clumbers at a show
in Tupelo, Mississippi 5 or 6 years ago. The lady with those Clumbers was so
patient with us, and answered all our questions. We made the decision then,
that when our Miss Daisy went to the Rainbow Bridge, we would try to adopt a
Clumber. In the fall of 2005 we started our search for our new baby. We
contacted the CSCA breeder referral, Susan King, and the packet we received
from her gave us a starting place for our quest. After many long distance
phone calls, we found Quail Hollow Kennels in Florida. Pam Scholey sent us
pictures of a litter of three boys and we fell in love with the boy named
Spanky. After filling out a questionnaire that would put a human adoption to
shame, we were told that we could adopt Spanky. Needless to say we drove 850
miles to get our boy, who we had already decided to name Bailey. At 3 months
old Bailey rode all the way back without so much as a whimper. We hadn’t
thought about showing, all we wanted was a friend, but Pam insisted that
Bailey had very good show potential.
Bailey
finished his Championship at 10 months old with 4 Majors including a best in
breed at 7 months. We are planning on letting him mature and starting him on
the show circuit this fall.
When
we decided to get a girl, to be our foundation Bitch, we thought long and
hard. We knew that we wanted to be able to breed with our Bailey, but also
to improve the breed by doing so. Amanda started looking last spring. She
found Sara at Von
Wunder Haus, Shirly-Ann & Ginger Miller, but we didn’t think they would
ever part with her. We looked at a number of other girls, but always came
back to Sara. When we got the call from Shirley-Ann, that we could adopt
Sara, we both cried. Sara is the perfect foil for Bailey. She is reserved
where Bailey is out going, she loves to be a lap dog where Bailey is not,
and they are devoted to each other. Our lives are complete. We plan on
breeding Sara next year, after she turns 2. We will be updating as this
develops. So stay tuned. We are always available to anyone, in our neck of
the woods, that wants to get to know Clumbers.
